Set within a heavily landscaped park around the existing Olympic Stadium, the complex  was featuring 30 venues for world-class sporting environment all connected by a monorail system.

The Ashgabat Olympic Complex involves development of a 157-hectare sports complex, centered on the site of the existing Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat City with a capacity of 60,000 people. Full completion of the construction work has been achieved by fall 2016.

Intamin has been entrusted to design the Monorail System, to supply the trains as well as  Monorail System equipment for the Olympic Project. For phase 1, an elevated track with a total length of approximately 5’200 meters (loop length/whereof 550 meters track to the depot and maintenance area) are connecting the various attractions, such as the main stadium, athlete village, indoor velodrome, aquatics center, indoor athletics arena, a tennis center, training halls, indoor arenas, medical rehabilitation center, hotel and press center, business center, restaurants, training for track and field, outdoor team sports fields, lake, outdoor cafes, carparks.

The system features trains of the type P30/90 with a maximum capacity of 90 passengers each, serving eight stations along the line. Thanks to the elevated track, about 4 – 6m above ground level, the visitors have a spectacular view all over the Ashgabat Olympic Complex. Up to 1,200 athletes and guests an hour can enjoy the circular route.

The maiden ride of the trains has been celebrated in May, and the system has been ready for the Olympic Games 2017.
